How We Utilize Donations

Those who are poor, elderly, and disabled are some of the most vulnerable in our society. Through love, care, companionship, and the generosity of our donors, we can honor the dignity of each client. Monetary donations make it possible for us to expand access to high-quality home health care and pay livable wages to our deserving caregivers.

For the average charity, 70% of donations go toward helping those in need. At Saint Joseph Home Health Care, over 90% of your donation will go toward client care-- both direct care and indirect care of those in need. The rest goes to our overhead costs.

If you cannot give a monetary donation at this time, but still wish to help our non-profit, consider giving your time and talents. Our three main ways to help include becoming a caregiver, missionary, or volunteer.

Donor FAQ

How is Saint Joseph Home Health Care Funded?
Saint Joseph Home Care receives the majority of its operational funding through U.S. federal reimbursement programs. For every dollar received from the government, we received approximately six cents from private donors.

While modest in amount, this donor-funded portion plays a meaningful role in how care is delivered.

If government funding is present, why are donor gifts still needed?
Government funding allows us to operate. Donor generosity allows us to serve with excellence, dignity, and compassion.

Scripture reminds us that we are not called merely to meet minimum standards, but to love our neighbor well. That additional five to seven cents per dollar gives us the freedom to do just that, namely with our caregivers

Could Saint Joseph continue providing care without donor support?
Yes, at a basic level, care could continue without donor funding. However, the quality of that care would be diminished. Donor support creates margin, however thin, that allows us to care for the our team in unique ways.

How does donor support improve care in practical ways?
Donor funding gives Saint Joseph greater flexibility to invest in and retain high-quality caregivers, ensure staff feel valued and supported, and create an environment where caregivers can offer presence, patience, and attentiveness.

Is there evidence that this approach leads to better care?
Yes. Families tell us, nearly unanimously, that they are receiving the best care they have ever experienced.

What does excellent care look like day to day?

Often, it looks simple, but sacred: a safer shower, a careful ride to an appointment, or a caregiver who chooses a game of Uno and conversation over passive television time.

Should donor funds be redirected to ministries without government support?
This is a sincere and faithful question. The needs, locally and globally, are immense.

We believe faithful stewardship is not only about where funds are needed most, but where God has entrusted us to serve well.

What ultimately guides how Saint Joseph uses donor gifts?
At the heart of our decision-making is this conviction:
God does not need our resources as much as He needs our obedience.
Your gifts are acts of trust and partnership in a ministry that seeks to reflect Christ’s care for the vulnerable through excellence, dignity, and love.
